Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum(b) in 2012!!!

There was a time, I am ashamed to admit, when I thought of Palin as a frontrunner for the 2012 Presidential Campaign. I saw her popularity among the radical right and feared that the Rethuglicans might see her as a potential candidate and might push her as the next president of the United States. I actually went so far as to predict that she would win. My Friend John argued a lot with me on this subject and I am forced to admit that I agree with his views on this now. I also agree that living in a state that is a deeply red state (Georgia) and the environment I deal with as a progressive on a daily basis had much to do with my outlook on the issue and so now, on my blog, I concede the argument to him.

Lately, however, these two women have irritated the PISS out of me. Sarah Palin (who has been a frequent target of mine on this blog) and Michelle Bachman are an amazing accumulation of idiocy, ignorance and malevolent bigotry, stupidity and just plain out venom. Now before you start with your bullshit, it has absofreakinglutely nothing to do with them being women...they just happen to be women...it is incidental not reflective of the fairer sex in anyway. I have no problem with a woman as President of the United States and judge them based on the same basis I would use on a man...have some freaken common sense.

So as a not so funny joke let us consider the idea that Sean Hannity (the Czar of Stupidity) proposed of a Palin-Bachman ticket in 2012...

Presidential Candidate...Sarah Palin

First, let's consider the Presidential Candidate, Sarah Palin. I really will not waste much more time with this douchebag. I have spoken enough of her idiocy on this blog that to give her more time almost seems like a crime to an intelligent person's patience and intellect. Here is a brief montage of some of Palin's finer moments during her campaign to invade the White House.



During that campaign she did her best to spread her bigotry and venom, often referring to the "real americans" as only those that would vote for her and Senator McCain. Her idea of experience was being Governor of Alaska, a job she couldn't even complete. She is an opponent of separation of church and state and promotes a theocracy that would make Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei very proud, as well as the Taliban of Afghanistan. But enough about that...let's look at the VP candidate of this duo...

Vice Predient Candidate...Michelle Bachmann

Bachmann recently grabbed my attnetion for her inmense propensity for saying really stupid things. There is also the fact that she, along with Palin, are the darlings of the Tea Party movement, and has been one of the promoters of the "hate the government" attitude that is permeating the country right now. As Mandy told me the other night, Bachmann almost makes Palin look smart! Here are a couple of expamples of this woman's massive intelligence (or lack thereof)...

Nobody is "celebrating" the OK city bombing you bimbo! And to add "only the democrats would say something like this"? WoW! Only a Rethuglican would be so desperate!

Congress should be investigated for Anti-Americans...



And as we learned from her future running mate during the 2008 campaign the real Americans vote Republican.

The Census used to "round up" Americans and put them in camps?



The list goes on and on...of this woman's complete and total lack of a grasp on reality.

Oh...and just incase that isn't enough...let us consider for the Cabinet Position of the Department of Health and Human Services, Republican Senator Candidate Sue Lowden who is wanting to replace Senator Harry Reid with her revolutionary health reform plan...



Of course, Jay Leno has a great question...



And what is scary? That they have so many people that shout them on, that support them and actually think they have great ideas. I will not be so foolish as to say that every hair brained scheme coming out of D.C. is a great idea..but seriously...is this the best they can offer? I can only hope Hannity is right...so we can witness one of the greatest political meltdowns in American history as these two bimbos compete to see who can show their ignorance more.

Freedom of the Press...Denied

So I was reading this article about the protests in Iran and how the students are protesting the conservative islamic government and how the foregin media was locked out of the Mall of America...oops sorry getting my articles mixed up! Also the gathering of 5000 conservatives to hear Sarah Palin's speech would control the information that came out of the clandestine type meeting...dammit all...I meant the Iranian government would control the media and the information that comes out of the protests on the school grounds from the pro reform protestors. It is hard to keep all of these stories straight, but I am trying! (yes that was sarcasm...)

The truth is that the similarities in my mind are stunning. A conservative group keeping media out so as to shape the public view to their message, means and methods. That barebones description fits both well. Now in defense of Palin and her cronies they are not attacking peole with the butts of rifles. Violence is not part of Palin's agenda and I am in no way accusing her of that.

However, the simple truth is that her handling of and attitude towards the media is very similar to that of the Iranian government. Keep the media out so that they can control the public's perception and THEY can give the real story as they want it to be seen.

I shudder to think how "informed" the American people would be under a Palin Administration.

Protecting Palin....

Ok..I know...I Palin Bash...but darn it all she is just too cute to leave alone! *wink, wink* lol She really does just beg for all the attention. In all fairness hse has gotten a rough handling but in all fairness to the media she really is the most polarizing politician this country has seen for some time...and like her or hate her she gets the attention she begs for...if not in the way she wants it.


So reading this article I couldn't help but get tickled at this line..."A speech scheduled for Wednesday night at the private College of the Ozarks in southwest Missouri was expected to draw a crowd of 5,000, and the school said it agreed to keep out reporters to secure Palin's appearance."

Really?? 5,000 people going to be there and in order to protect her they kept out the reporters? I am still trying to figure if this is protect her as in security concerns because reporters are so dangerous? Or protect her appearance as in Public Image...because once again reporters are so dangerous!

This is becoming almost too funny. The feud between Palin and the Elite Media. What are they worried about? Reporters with semi automatic cameras? Or are they worried about Palin getting her pantyhose stuck in her teeth trying to pull her foot out? How do you expect to win a Presidency when you can't even deal with the media at a book signing?

Now I won't hit her and her entourage for the Media Rules too hard since they were put out by the Mall of America. But I will say this...they got the idea from somewhere. She sets the image, they follow the image. If it were President Obama, the language would not be considered. They see her as the extreme right xenophobic that she is and they made the rules as they saw fitting. That is My opinion at least...so take it, leave it or shit on it...I don't care.

As for calling her Governor...well she lost that right when she threw the position she was duly elected to, and given a mandate by the people of Alaska to accomplish and took a sworn oath to fulfill back in their face for personal and selfish reasons. She is not like the "Colonel" that retires and is still called by his rank, or the President that leaves office and is still called President . These men and women fulfill their duty and are acknowledged for completing their duty, and rightly so. She is no Governor...she is a hired hand looking out for herself...

But what I still find amusing in this article is the irony that 5,000 people can show up, the majority of which are NRA lifetime members like her (not that there is anything wrong with that...just stating the fact that they own and use weapons...that is all so don't go jumping down my throat about the NRA..I don't have an issue with them.) and have more chance, means and opportunity to bring weapons to the rally and be CONSIDERED (not that they are..geez have to spell it out for those that would love to twist my words on me) dangerous then a flock of media with their cameras and pads and pencils....yet it is the media they choose to lock out to secure "Palin's appearance". And note the words used in the sentence...the school AGREED to keep out reporters, which makes it sound like the Palin camp REQUESTED for the reporters to be kept out. TOO FUNNY!

Before the Palin camp continues this ridiculous feud, they need to realize that the blame for the "elite media" attacking poor pitiful Palin, lies more on her and her penchant to speak stupidity and idiocy than on the media doing what they are expected to do. Face it Fox is not fair and balanced, if they get an Obama Administration on it is so they can beat the shit out of them! You expect it! If CNN gets a Right Wing on it is to try to trick them into answers that suit their cause...you think they really care about their opinion? It is what the media on BOTH sides of the spectrum do! Don't blame it on the reporter, blame it on the idiot that gives them the ammunition!

Couric did not bungle that interview Palin decries so much..she did. She gave the stupid answers, Couric was just doing her job. And once again that is my opinion.

This was a bad and unhelpful book.

It was not bad because it was simple. Goldwater (or his ghost) used fewer pages in Conscience of a Conservative and said more. It was not bad because it was autobiographical. Though I don’t like his politics, President Obama confessed more and said it better in Dreams from My Father. If you don’t believe that this book is bad, then read (really do!) Ronald Reagan’s autobiography Where’s the Rest of Me? Ronald Reagan showed more substance in his delightful book written mostly about his time as an actor than Palin shows in her four hundred pages.
Reagan (or his ghost) did not write a wonk book. It is very, very readable, but it wrestles with ideas even in the context of a film star career! It is not Plato, but it is interesting and makes you want to talk to the man who wrote it. There is a man behind the book, the Gipper is in every paragraph, but there is only a ghost of a personality in the corporate machine written Going Rogue.

The best you can say about this book is that it is forgettable and will be forgotten. It is a book-of-the-moment non-book meant to be purchased and given as a Christmas gift to conservatives. It is an utter waste of an opportunity for something better, but it is no worse than most political “memoirs” of its type.

It is better than Pelosi, but damning a person with that comparison is almost too cruel after what Palin has endured.

What are the ten things the book taught me?

First, Palin is a unique political talent, but her abilities do not extend to the written word. That is too bad, because our best politicians may use a ghost at times, but they also know words and do not fear them. Reagan is a great example of this. He could write. Of course, that does not mean she should not be President, but it does limit her.

Her publisher did not fact check this book well (if at all). She was badly served by her publisher and editor. People who criticize me for nit-picking her use of quotations miss the point. I am a fan . . . though now a weary one . . . and I found the errors. The publisher had to know that her critics would check every fact.

How can I in a single day with no help find error after error when I am no writer, no editor (as this blog post indicates), and no specialist?

Second, Sarah Palin has not grown in the year since the election. Those of us who hoped that Palin had been “hidden” by the campaign know the truth now. She still is what she was.

She is smart, but not book-smart. She has common sense, but not practical wisdom. These are not fatal flaws, but she shows no signs of changing or recognizing them.

Third, Palin uses four hundred pages to give her side of things, but I am still at a loss to describe her political or governing philosophy in any detail. President Obama is sickening us all on the academic as commander-in-chief. She is the opposite of President Obama, but the opposite of excess is defect and not virtue. Again, Reagan wrote a breeze easy autobiography from which you could discern a serious man, so I did not want a dissertation, just a better book.

There is plenty of intellectual real estate between this book and a dissertation in which she could have settled.

Fourth, Palin has the makings of a splendid executive and is a gifted speaker. She could learn what she needs to know, but my fear after reading this book is that she does not care to learn it.

The book is not intellectually roguish, but intellectually rougish. It covers up something with the appearance of health, but we are left to wonder what is being covered up.

Fifth, Palin was an effective mayor and governor. McCain destroyed that promise with his doomed campaign. This is another reason to curse the 2008 election.

Sixth, Palin is most effective in new media because the way it is typically used plays to her strengths. However, it also encourages her weaknesses as it tends to build a like minded community with too little criticism and allows her to stick to sound bites and generalities.

Seventh, Palin uses books as entertainment, to get information, and to confirm beliefs. I see no evidence she reads as an intellectual adventure or to change her mind. This is dangerous in a political leader as it tends to make leadership personality driven rather than idea driven.

Eighth, Palin is sensitive to the charge she is “dumb,” but has not been given the tools or the teachers who can help her. (Has she sought them out?) She needs teachers who assume her intelligence, who challenge her, and speak her Evangelical language. Such teachers (see Moreland, J.P.) exist and she should seek them out.

Ninth, Palin has been abused by the culture and is justifiably hurt and enraged.

Tenth, if Palin does not run for President, then all of this is much ado about little. She seems a splendid person who has lived a remarkable life, even if this book did nothing much to help us see this truth.

Sadly, I now believe the burden of proof has shifted. While an excellent chief executive in Alaska, there is reason to believe that Palin lacks the intellectual skills needed to be an effective President. Most important, she does not seem to recognize this and shows no sign of getting them.

I have not given up on Palin and find much in her to admire, but she would not get my primary vote based on this book and what I know about her to date. I hope I am wrong and am open to changing my mind.

She has more promise than any Republican candidate I can name and I still have hopes for Sarah Palin, but hope needs substance or it becomes a disillusioned faith.

Mutiny at Ft. Bragg

OK....I am going to take heat for this one. So I will start with saying that I firmly support the military and the men and women in uniform that serve the cause of liberty, defending not only our freedom but our interests, both here and abroad. These men and women lay their lives on the line, their families sacrificing peace and unity for a life of danger, solitude and sometimes loss. They SHOULD get special treatment because they do a SPECIAL job, one that the rest of us do not, and some cannot do. My dad was military, my brother was military and a combat and wounded veteran. I was raised with these ideals deeply engrained in the fiber of my being, and no matter how far left I may lean, those values have not and never will change.

Those values,however, do not exempt them from criticism when it is appropriate. I love my parents, but that love does not make them perfect and above reproach. We love and respect despite differences and despite what mistakes are made. Where love becomes sick, respect becomes blind worship is when we ignore and defend those flaws.

Now I probably have already lost the brainwashed to their rhetoric,and am already a traitor that does not love this country and does not support the troops, but if you are still reading I wanted to make those facts clear before I continue.

What happened at Ft. Bragg today was nothing more and nothing less than mutiny. Sarah Palin was giving access to a military installation for her book signing by military personnel regardless of the fact that her, her entourage and the fans lined up would be protesting the commander in chief. This is a break in military protocol and practice as they themselves have stated.

The exception was made on a very thin and weak argument...she is not a politician. Are flipping kidding me??? She is the VP candidate that ran against the current Commander in Chief! She is, arguably, the face of the current Commander's opposition, the republican Party, who have and continue to fight every action the president takes, regardless of what it is, just on the political value of slowing down every action he takes for their own political gain, regardless of the cost to the country. She is also, arguably, the front runner of hopefuls that will oppose the Commander in Chief in the upcoming election of 2012. And she isn't a politician? This is obviously a hair split between the difference of being a POLITICIAN and being POLITICAL. And it is reprehensible, hypocritical and flat out a disrespect to the values they claim to uphold.

Now I asked a military person very dear to me, whom I respect and admire. He states that this is the silent way of the military to show the president they disapprove of certain actions. Much as the child that finds subtle ways to express their displeasure without out right disrespecting their parent that has the power to beat the piss out of them. When I asked what in particular are they protesting, I was giving the delay in the president's decision to send more troops to Afghanistan. Now here is my problem with that. Gen. McCrystal made a claim that the deaths of men and women in uniform would ESCALATE if more troops were not sent...NOW. Are there deaths taking place? Yes, regrettably and I mourn those deaths with my fellow Americans. But have they ESCALATED? No...they have not. At least not as far as the American people have been informed. (Enter the conservative fear mongering and victimization act about a controlled media that is keeping it from the American people.)

When President Bush sent troops to Iraq under the auspices of WMD in Iraq, the American people asked for evidence. We were not given it. We were told that the information was too delicate and we just needed to trust our leaders. We did and ended up with congressional report that clearly stated these WMD were no where to be seen. Now some still state that they were there. I will not go so far as to call them a liar, but WILL state that I can only make my decision of support for an administration's decisions based on information I HAVE...not on information I am promised is there but is too top secret for me to know.

This president is trying to make an informed decision. One that is not fast enough for the men and women in uniform, the same people that want us to swallow President Bush's claims, while they blatantly defy and disrespect the current President for wanting to make an informed decision and not moving fast enough for their time table??? They are penalizing the president based on actions that COULD happen, playing childish games with childish politicians. Wait till the play goes wrong before you fire the coach. You do not know the future, you do not have a magical looking glass to KNOW that the actions THREATENED will actually happen.

What happened at Ft Bragg was mutiny, plain and simple. It was like a football team walking off the field because they disagree with the coach's choice of a play. It was a clear political act by the military to show support to a politician (and yes she is a politician...even by FOX new's standards retard!) that is in opposition to the current Commander in Chief, a rule they have held in the past when it suited them, but now it doesn't. For crying out loud...her bus had a message on it encouraging donations to her PAC!!! How much more of a politician do you have to be??? I am sorry but this defies the concept of military intelligence! I refuse to believe that these Commanders (or whatever rank they are) are that stupid. So if it is not stupidity...then it is blatant mutiny.

Sure they did not provide her a platform. But the media was there to interview her father who clearly called out Obama on his handling of the military, as supporters stood in line with their "Impeach Obama" shirts. You do not have to give a platform of wood today for a politician to have a platform. No ribbons of red, white and blue with nice little buttons have to be present for an effective politician to make a platform.

And there in lies the crux of it all. The military dislikes Democratic Presidents. Democratic Presidents look to the needs of the citizens, and not exclusively to the needs of the military. This sounds harsh but the Roman Republic was taken down by a man named Julius Caesar, a man that put the military first...and it was the sound of military horns that played, drowning out the death throes of the Roman Republic...ushering in an empire.

For shame to the men that allowed this, and for shame to those that support this blindly, without thinking of the consequences.

Poor, Poor Pitiful....Palin

So her book is coming out, and if the media is to be believed (which is always a dangerous assumption) it is more of a defense of herself and an attack on those that dared to question her and oppose her than it is an autobiography.

Now before we begin let me say that the idea of her writing an autobiography is not as ludicrous as it would appear at first glance. She is after all a presidential hopeful and probable candidate and even a very strong possible nominee for the Republican Party. It has become traditional for presidential hopefuls to write an autobiography, intended more as a resume as well as an expression of personal views that can be quoted by friends and distorted by enemies alike.

I read, for instance, The Audacity of Hope. While I was very undecided for much of the previous Presidential Campaign, I will say that the class, intelligence and respect that Barrack Obama put in his autobiography made him a very likeable candidate to me. I read where he disagreed with people, including (then) President Bush, but he treated each situation he had confronted with respect, stating that these men (and women) loved their country and were doing what they felt best for the country even if he disagreed with them. I know on the campaign trail things got a little vicious from both sides, and everybody (colored by their own political views) will argue who threw more mud...which is entirely irrelevant because slinging mud, no matter how little, results in both sides getting dirty. But outside of the campaign, in just retrospect of reading his autobiography I was struck with his respect and overall class. That is the purpose and intent of these autobiographies, sway the view of the reader in favor of the candidate.

As far as Palin and her autobiography go I first acknowledge a couple of facts that her fans and other conservatives are going to point out...so let me save you the trouble:

(1) I have not read the book and therefore cannot intelligently and independently comment on it. This is true on ALL counts. I have NOT read the book, and I cannot comment intelligently and independently. Almost right at least. This is a blog...you want intelligence???? Blogs are all about personal views and these views are not always intelligent or expressed intelligently...deal with it. I can somewhat comment independently simply because...I independently can't stand the woman! That being said I will preface ANY comments with the fact and acknowledgment that any comments I make at this point are (a) personal EMOTIONAL views (b) colored by the take of the media (c) unfounded on any REAL facts personally ascertained or developed from personally perusing her book.

(2) Let me elaborate on one of those points. The only people that have seen an actual copy of it is the media...which happen to be primary targets of Palin all the time anyway and frankly would relish the opportunity to give their own slant on it before the public gets to it. Basically, steal her thunder. So there is no question that their view is slanted and biased, with good reason...she has done nothing to make the media her friends.

There...happy? the disclaimers are all out of the way. That being said I find a couple of things to be...ironic...for lack of a better word.

(1) During the 2008 Presidential Campaign much was made in a mocking manner of Obama's autobiography, mostly stating that he didn't have anything to write about because he had not accomplished anything. I am not here to refute or argue that statement or sentiment. Let us consider what Sarah Palin has to write about:

-A failed Presidential Campaign. To hear it from the McCain camp, Palin was a large part of why the campaign fell apart in the end. According to them she was a self serving diva. Whether or not there is any truth to that is irrelevant to this argument. What is however factual, is that the only reason you choose a Vice Presidential candidate is for what votes they can bring to the table. This is a basic fact in American politics. In short, she was brought on to do a job...one she apparently did not succeed in...they lost the vote...and depending who you talk to..she was a large part of the reason why.

-An incomplete job as Governor of Alaska. Not much was made of it, just enough for political purposes, but otherwise it was just a ripple on the lake with bigger fish to fry. But I personally found her resigning as Governor of Alaska mid term as a revealing view of her personality. (a) The people of Alaska put their trust in her to do a job, and she was hired to do that job for a certain period of time, and she quit that job before her mandate from the people was completed. (b) Her reasons were self serving and selfish. She can give whatever reasons she wants, but it is obvious to everybody that her reasons were geared toward her getting a new job...the Presidency of the United States. If she was unable to complete one job....what makes us think she is capable of completing this job.

-A successful career in local politics...but then...after the disparaging comments she found such a following for during the 2008 Presidential Campaign about Obama's small time local politics, do we really care what she did as mayor of small town Alaska? I mean seriously, if Obama's job as Senator does not help his resume as President...then what does being mayor of..Wasalla? Wasilla? shrugs...who knows?

(2) If the purpose of a presidential hopeful's autobiography is to present their resume to the American public as well as present the views they will run on as well as their view on what a Presidency should be like...then what will we learn from Palin's autobiography?

-How a President can be manipulated? After all, from all accounts, (if the media is to be believed, which is always highly suspect in my personal views)the book tells how she was manipulated and how the McCain staffers used her and manipulated her. It seems like a fine line in some cases. Like when Senator McCain would say something she would defer to his authority. But in the case of the staffers they were manipulating her, holding her back, stifling her. Then there is the media. A favorite target for attack for Palin. The Elite Media, as she disparagingly referred to them during the campaign (a term that apparently includes all media outlets except FOX News and Rush Limbaugh). They made her look like an idiot. Well like it or not, when it is YOUR face in the video doing stupid thing and saying stupid stuff...the media does not HAVE to interpret it...they just have to amplify it...which is what they did. They amplified mistakes and stumbles she made, but she provided the material.

-How a President can blame others? Whatever happened to the president that had a sign on his desk, "The buck stops here"? Even President Obama is still pointing fingers at the Bush Administration. It has been a year...get over it...deal with it and prove what you can do, not how much a victim you can be. I get aggravated every time I read where the former administration is blamed for current direction. Yes, I am aware that there are issues at hand that the administration has to deal with that were left there by the former administration (i.e. Iraq, Gitmo, etc.) but stop whining about it, stop blaming others for it and just talk about where we are going...not where we were. In this same token, Palin seems to spend a lot of time blaming other people for her mistakes. She did not have anything to do with the non answers in her vice presidential debate..she was coached into them. It was not her fault she had a dismal interview with Couric, it was Couric's fault, Couric was on a witch hunt. PUHLEEESE!

I will read Palin's book (once I can afford the 30.00 price tag...I got Obama's in a used bookstore for 5.00). But I won't make any promises of doing so with an open mind. I believe Palin is an idealist. We all are in one way or another. Her ideals are different from mine. I do not fault her, or even say she is wrong and I am right. I am sure there is something to be learned from her book. Her excuses do not interest me. If she has something to add that is of worth I will listen. But if it is just going to be a regurgitation of her former vile venom...I will read it...and file it away in the BS file in my head...right along with Beavis & Butthead.

Burn, Baby Burn!

I am no Nostradamus, no prophet or seer....but I have a prediction. I have a prediction that my liberal buddies are not going to like, and are going to disagree with. (queue in John! lol) But this is my prediction. And it will sit here till I am (hopefully) proven wrong or (disastrously) proven right. And here is my prediction:

Sarah Palin will be the Republican nominee in 2012...and she will win.

Now that is a stunner. Who would have thought that this country bumpkin whom (as my buddy John so accurately put it) John McCain subjected us to would even have a prayer in hell to be the next president of the US.

Now to explain Why and How this travesty will occur. (Surely you know me better than to make such a statement without presenting my reasoning!)

First before I get into the why and how let me refute the naysayers on why they say it will not happen:

(1) She is a woman....while I think very few will still argue this after Hillary Clinton nearly became president this last election, there are still enough out there that it is worth mentioning. And as already mentioned, I have two words for you...Hillary Clinton, 'nuff said.

(2) She is too conservative. This nation's politics are in a perpetual pendulum. We get one party in power that leans liberal...the country swings liberal. The opposing party then comes into power and it swings right. This is how our nation's history has played out. It is this political pendulum that has made our system work and kept us in a somewhat balanced keel.

(3) She is too inexperienced. I would guess after Mr. Obama overcame this argument that those that opposed him would see its fallacy and those that supported him would see their hypocrisy in using it...but hey it takes all types. And after all....she did write her prerequisite autobiography (which I will sooooo have to get back to in another blog!)

So let me explain why I feel she will be the presidential nominee and why (provisionally of course) she will win.

(1) Despite her stupidity she is still popular with the moderates and conservatives. (yes...I did say moderates) She spouts enough Steve Forbes and other business crap that people (least of all herself) dont understand but sounds pretty accurate (to the unsuspecting mind) As President Obama pushes his agenda, the argument made by the Republicans (and enhanced with the media's help trumpeting their rhetoric) is that Obama's agenda is too liberal and socialist. Now this country fears that word socialism. Is funny since the first true socialist movement was the church in the book of Acts, (yeah don't pass out I am quoting the Bible!) The church in Acts had people that sold all they had and gave it to the church and they all lived as equals. Of course, you also had your first politicians, people that lied and used the system to their advantage to make themselves look good (Anannias and Saphira-who ended up dead). But the thing to point out is that liberals are not advocating true socialism in which everybody lives as equals. They simply are proponents of the ideal that those that have, have some responsibility to the have-nots...particularly those have-nots that have no means of coming out of the "have-not" status.

Any way..I digress. The point is that the Right is effectively painting this Administration as too far to the left. And the further to the left they push the public opinion of this administration...the wider the middle ground will be for the next campaign. Lets face it, the last campaign had two guys that actually agreed on too many things. There was very little middle ground and moderates really had to choose on personal and personality reasons more than political platforms. The more the Right can push the public into seeing this administration (and the democrats as a whole) as ultra left...the wider the middle ground to grab at moderates.

As for the conservatives...need I say more? As my best friend Christina always says...REALLY???

(2) Ever since Reagan created the "Moral Majority", the Republicans have managed to make morals a part of politics. Now what I mean by that (before any random conservative that MAY have read this far jumps on my morality) is that they have taken issues that are none of the government's business and made it the government's business and made it part of their platform. Let's take two examples really quick.

Abortion. Now PERSONALLY...mind you PERSONALLY....I detest abortion. I think it is wrong and I think "MORALLY" it is wrong. I also find it disturbing that the people that have abortions are those that would be on the side of liberals and moderates...while the conservatives continue populating the world! lol However, while I personally feel it is wrong, I politically hold to the belief that it is none of the government's business, and that it is equally wrong for one group of people to FORCE their morality on another group of people.

Gay rights. I will come straight out and say it straight.....I AM STRAIGHT. There is not a gay bone in my body. As a matter of fact I find gay behavior down right disgusting. That is MY PERSONAL feelings on it. However, one again, while I personally detest it, I politically hold to the fact that it is not the government's place to decide what happens in my bedroom, and to set me apart and ostracize me because they do not approve. It is EQUALLY as wrong for one group of people to force their morality on another group of people.

This is where conservative politics success has hid for a long time. And trust me, as health reform runs into the obstacles of Abortion (which by the way, if the government should not make laws against it, they should not fund it either...that is the point, the government has no business at all in it) and President Obama allows the gay and lesbian movement to make him out to be their hero, when the next election comes out the right AND the moderates will bite him in the ass!

(3) Conservative politics are all about the slippery slope...and friend...we are on their proverbial slippery slope. Frankly put conservative politics is fueled by the religious right, and just as their religion is fueled by fear, their politics are also fueled by fear. I have found this ironic. For a group of people that hold that their God is all powerful, he apparently has no power to protect them from the horrible liberals that want to (and I quote) "imprison them for worshiping and loving God" (that quote comes from some family and friends..hell what can I say? I live in NW GA....go figure!) The left is out to make gays and lesbians and baby murderers run this nation and pack them off to jail and ultimately one day kill them! REALLY??? (sorry Christina..there I go again! lol) We cant even get serial killers killed these days and you think we are going to get you killed????

The point I am making here is that the Republicans are doing a wonderful job in pushing this slippery slope. Never mind that the economy is on a slow recovery. Never mind that for the first time in eight years we are earning respect NOT FEAR (a detail conservatives have a hard time differentiating, and a concept they cannot seem to grasp-fear and respect are NOT the same thing!) Never mind all that...we are headed for doom and destruction, and the more they can prove their point, the more we play into their hands.

(4) She is a woman. Now before you jump on this one hear me out. there are a couple of important points to be made.

First...when President Obama was running, while HE himself did not make a big deal of it, the media and the party did make a big deal about the historical nature of an African-American running for president. And while Obama himself did not use it, many people made it out that you were a racist if you voted against him. This was a historical moment for the black man and anybody that opposed it did not oppose him or his views, but rather his color. In the same manner, the Republicans are not TOTALLY stupid. They can learn that game, and trust me two can play that game. Palin herself will not play on it, the Republicans are too smart for that. The Party, their branch of the media (Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, etc.) will play on it. Hell, my brother has already accused ME of being sexist because I hate Palin so much. This is an issue that Democrats brought on themselves during the Obama Campaign, and it will come back to haunt them.

Second...There was a portion of the country that voted for Obama merely because he was black. Now admittedly, it was not as big a percentage as the blowhard idiot Rush Limbaugh and his cronies made it out to be. But indeed there WAS a percentage. Now in states where it will be close, that small percentage can and did make a difference. In that same manner, there will be a portion of the population that will vote for Palin just because she is a woman. Once again, while that percentage will be small, in key states that small percentage CAN and WILL make a difference.

I could come up with more reasons why this depressing idea is not so far fetched but you are getting bored and I still need to discuss the how...How will the Republicans pull this off? Follow me closely...

(1) Stall-Stall every piece of legislation the Obama administration puts out. Find every possible means politically and legislatively to stall everything. President Obama was elected on some significant policy goals. Stall closing Guantanamo Bay, stall bringing the 9/11 masterminds to justice and carefully control (and criticize) the means by which they are brought to justice. (see note below regarding this one), stall Health Reform. Keep it all from happening. Politics is as much a game of defense as it is offense.

They do not have to stall long. They just have to stall long enough for mid elections. If they can get control back of Capitol Hill, then it is a smooth road for them from there. From that point they can make the president a lame duck and not allow one single thing through until it meets their approval and agenda.

Furthermore, IF they can stall it long enough to take control then they can control how it is perceived by the American public. Seniors (vital to winning Florida which we will come back to) were saved by their intervention, and the list goes on and on.

(2) Control-Once they stall till mid elections and take over Capitol Hill (which is a very strong possibility, as seen by history. Take Clinton and Bush Jr. for example) Then it is a matter of controlling the agenda. Once they win, they will proudly state the American people have spoken and they will set out to completely destroy the Administration's agenda. By doing this, Mr. Obama will not get to do those things he promised on the campaign trail to get done. The American public, being the gullible idiots that we are, will see it as Obama's failure, rather than Congresses, mostly because we were to busy jacking off during our Social Studies classes to understand that the President can only accomplish what Congress allows him to accomplish.

(3) Propaganda-at this point the propaganda blitz begins. The president will be painted as a man that cannot keep his word, and cannot get things done and we must get somebody in there that will get things done and turn this country around. Playing defense in a presidential campaign is difficult as the Republicans found out in 2008 when they were scrambling to get out from under the shadow of George W. Bush. And while democrats benefited from that administration, they need to remember that they will be playing defense in the next one...and if they don't get things accomplished they will have nothing to defend and the Republicans will be able to consummate their running argument that Obama is all talk and rhetoric but no action. And if they manage that then it is a done deal.

(4) The numbers game-Let's face it. The Electoral college is outdated and is designed in such a manner that the only people that benefit from it is the conservative right, which is why they defend it so vehemently. The presidential election is NOT about who the nation chooses as a president, but rather WHERE those people live and piecing together a puzzle that equals success. Now granted, our forefathers designed the Electoral College to keep the presidential vote from being a mere approval of the mob, as they were very distrustful of the masses. But they could not foresee urbanization and how the society would develop. And of course whatever party is not in power knows that the ticket to success is piecing together that numerical puzzle and will never really move to have this outdated system replaced.

And here is why Palin will be President in 2012. The whole game played right and she will take it in a close but successful campaign. Stall, control, affect the public opinion through propaganda and ultimately play the number game. And it all goes together. If you keep Health Reform from passing long enough to gain control then have it removed completely or edited to where it is meaningless legislation, then convince the seniors in Florida you saved their asses....you get their vote..and you get Florida. It is a strategical game, one that requires gifted slight of hands and illusions, mirrors and smoke...but it is not impossible, and ignoring it and declaring it is ludicrous and impossible only assures its success.

So what has to happen for Palin to not be the leader of the free world?

(1) Make it happen. Yes we can? Then fucking shut up and get it done. Pass legislation that will fix the problems BEFORE the Republicans take over and the rest becomes inevitable.

(2)Keep Capitol Hill. With the elections coming up we should not become complacent. If the opposing party takes over...nothing will get done and the outcome is inevitable.

(3)Balance. Remember, too much law makes things stagnant, too much chaos creates confusion and anarchy. There has to be a balance. Don't push the American people into overcompensating. If you push too much of your agenda, then you will reach the point where the American people will over compensate and Palin or somebody like her will come into power and the whole thing will go back 50 years. I consider myself a moderate for this very reason. I believe both Democrats and Republicans are all about extremes. I dislike extremes and absolutes...the truth is out there and somewhere in the middle.

I dislike Palin as much now, if not more than I did in 2008. The concept of this white trash venomous bitch in the White House terrifies me. She is, in my opinion, a picture of what is really wrong with this country. She is a quitter, as exemplified by her resigning her sworn duty and elected office. She is a liar, as exemplified by the fact she claims it was for family reasons when she it is clear to everybody that it is really for her preparation to run for the presidency. And worst of all, in my opinion, she is a victim, always a victim. It was the media, the liberal, John McCain's staff...it is always somebody other than herself that is to blame for her failures. It cannot be her own venomous and divisive personality, it cannot be her own vile mouth...it is always somebody else. Her upcoming autobiography is must more of the same. She mocked Obama and his autobiographies, stating how he has done nothing to write about. Well Palin * wink wink * I have news for you, you have nothing to write about except about how you failed and how you quit. How you left the people of Alaska without a governor after they had given you their sacred confidence and commissioned you to a job that you swore to complete. I may lose in 2012 (ironically the prophesied year for the end of the world) to you...but am I gonna give up? Nope! Am I gonna fight you? Ya betcha!

(Note: I want to make this clear, the Republicans are not trying to stop justice for the masterminds of 9/11. They are trying to control how it is done, presumably for the safety of the country, but more so for them to prove that Democrats are stupid when it comes to national security. Both sides are using this issue politically. The point I was making is that the Republicans are stalling and fighting every thing....if they fight everything....they (in their eyes at least) win enough to make use of later on in the fight.)

Have you ever seen the movie "The Dead Zone"? In this movie staring Martin Sheen and Christopher Walken, Walken has a horrible accident that leaves him almost dead. When he recovers he finds he has a somewhat dubious "gift". When he shakes somebody's hand he can tell their future. It turns out to be 100% accurate. So Martin Sheen plays this power hungry politician set on becoming Senator. As he campaigns He comes across Walken and upon shaking his hand Walken sees a disturbing future. In this future Sheen becomes president, and facing a crisis such as Kennedy faced, he does not wait for diplomacy or for a peaceful solution, but instead, drunk wth power he sends off the nuclear missles that will bring around a nuclear holocaust and the destruction of the world as we known it. What strikes my memory the most is that as he sends the missles off aides come running up with the joyous news that a peaceful solution had been worked out. Sheen pats them on the shoulders and tells them not to worry gentlemen, "the missles are flying, hallelujah, the missles are flying".

Ever had that nightmare that won't leave you alone? You think about it during the day, you lay in bed thinking about it at night? Sarah Palin is that nightmare for me. I fear this woman like I have never feared anybody in all my life. Gov. Palin has displayed such disregard and direspect for anybody that opposes her, such venom for anybody that opposes her righteous cause that I see that picture imposed over her face everytime I see her, "the missles are flying gentlemen, hallelujah, the missles are flying."

Now right away somebody will say that I am being irrational, that there is no way somebody can be THAT stupid or THAT crazy. Well I beg to differ. Just last week, the President of the Unied States of America authorized an invaion of a sovereign country (Syria) without any respect of sovereign airspace or that nation's borders. We had an objective, that objective was in another country's sovereign airspace, across their borders and they did not grant us permission to take troops into their nation (gasp! how dare they!) so we decide that their sovereignty does not matter and we sent our men into their country and in essence invaded Syria.

Th path is set ladies and gentlemen. And unless somebody puts a stop to it we are looking at WWIII. We have allowed ourselves in our arrogance to believe that this is OUR world and everybody else just gets the priviledge to live in it. So where next? Al Queda is a moblile enemy. They were in Afghanistan and we invaded them and RIGHTLY SO after September 11th. So the enemy moved out of our reach, and the administration tells us they went to Iraq. So what did we do? We invaded, and of course Saddaam Hussein was the perrenial bad guy so it was justifiable. Now they went to Syria, and on a much smaller scale, we still invaded. So who is next? Saudi Arabia? Egypt? Jordan? How many nations will we disreagard? How many borders will we violate before they band together against us, and Russia sides with them, and we find ourselves in another world war.

Am I saying that Palin is crazy enough to just go straight to the missles? Possibly, but not likely. Instead, it will be what she has demonstrated through out this campaign. A total disregard for the rights and the humanity of those that oppose her. A total disregard for everything this country has stood for. No not the radical religious bull shit she and her cronies keep trying to cram down our throats. I am talking about the ideals of acceptance and tolerance. The ideals of liberty and justice for ALL!...get that one? ALL! Not just you and your religious right, but everybody. Yes, that DOES include the gay and lesbians, yes that does include the pro-choice feminazis. It is for ALL, NOT just the ones you deem worthy of it.

So is it a far stretch to think that we could end up in a world war that destroys this nation we love? Not really. The path has already been paved by one cowboy with no regard for the sovereignty of our neigbors in the international community. Unless somebody gets in office that will show some respect for that international community, that is exactly where we are headed.

Not only is there the real possiblity of an internationl breakdown if this woman ends up in control, but there would be a huge reversal in the rights of real Americans in this country. With her in the driver's seat you would see a realigning of the Supreme Court and Roe vs. Wade would be her first priority. You would see many things in this country that would frighten you. People, make no mistake, this woman holds no regard for the rights of ALL Americans, only the rights of those that align with her and her radical religious beliefs.

I am proud of this country. I love America. I am a proud citizen of the United States of America, and I say so unapologetically. Joe the Plumber does not hold the corner on patriotism. I do not for one moment apologize for being a proud citizen of the greatest country in the world...I just believe we sometimes forget we are not the only country in the world, and as spiderman's uncle told him, with great power comes great responsiblity. And we are guilty of rampaging through the world like a pre schooler on steroids carrying a big bat and beating up the other students.

So what is my nightmare? What scares the shit out of me? What do I lay awake in the middle of the night pondering in fear? McCain winning the White House and dying (which the actuary tables are stacked against him) and Palin succeeding him as commander in chief. That woman's finger on the trigger of the greatest military in the world. That or...Palin 2012....these are things that go "bump" in the night for me. I will say this. If McCain wins the White House, I may even become a Christian again, just so I can pray to God every day that He will live to see the end of his Presidency, because there is no hope for America if Palin ends up the President of the United States of America. *wink wink bang bang* Ya Betcha!

This is MY Country too!!!!

I am sitting here just FUMING as I read the newest spout of venemous drivel from the rabies infected bitch hound of the Republican ticket, Governor Sarah Palin. I know I have made my dislike of this woman clear, but in many ways she has come to represent the intolerance of the Conservative Right that just pisses Me off and eats away at our society like a cancer of hate and division.

In her latest remarks the attack bitch stated she liked being in parts of the country that she considered more "pro America". I, like Joe the Senator, am sick and tired of My patriotism being questioned by these clowns. I am tired of being kicked out of my country simply because I dont agree with them. I am tired of the guilt trip being used to force people to see it their way. I am tired of the intolerant assholes and their bigotry meetings spouting words like "traitor" to those that dare oppose them. I am tired of that stupid woman standing and making comments like "I hope those protestors have the courage to thank a vetern for defending their right to protest" when they were actually supporters of her and McCain, as though we that are of a different persuasion do not understand that we owe everything tothe men and women in uniform. I am tired, DAMN sick and tired, of these bigots standing and saying that a Christian could not possibly vote for Obama. Sure...right now I am acting pretty much like them but I am fucking tired of my integrity questioned, my patriotism questioned, My love for my country questioned by pompous asses that think themselves so much fucking better than me!

Let me tell you what is the most American thing I can do Sarah Palin....the most Patriotic and American thing I can do you self righteous pompous ass is go in that booth and vote My conscience. It does not make me less American because I think you are an idiot. It does not make me less patriotic because I think you are a Barbie airhead with shit for brains and the venom of a rattlesnake. It does not make Me any less American that I am thankful for John McCain's service but ashamed that he would let you run around this country and question the patriotism of anybody that opposes you!

I will say it categorically and without apology. I love this country. I am proud to be a citizen of the United States of America. I believe this is the greatest country in the world. I shed a tear with my hat off and my hand over my heart everytime the flag is raised and the Star Spangled Banner is played. I honor our men and women in uniform and thank them for the service they have given this country, them and their family. If you doubt me Sarah Palin you can fucking go to hell you damn bitch; you and all the other sanctimonious Bolshevik bastards that scream hate and division at your campaign rallies. When this is all done, you will find your sorry ass back in Alaska where you can freeze your ass off and fire more people that oppose your supreme will.

To John McCain...who will never read this. I honor your service. I respect the time you spent in uniform. I am, however, ashamed that you would allow the venom your campaign has projected. I am ashamed that you would allow Palin to subvert the very rights and freedoms you suffered to protect. You should hang your head in shame to leave the political spectrum with this trail of hate and ugliness left behind you.

Guilt by Association?

Saturday New York Times printed an article about the association of Barack Obama and William Ayers, the leader of the now infamous "Weathermen" a group that in protest of the Vietnam War had participated in violent and contemptible deeds as enemies of our country. The article explains the details and does so candidly as well as ultimately showing that there is no connection that can be draw, other than a relationship involving community projects and like political affiliation...namely Democrat.

That same day the Governor of Alaska and Senator John McCain's running mate made some pretty explosive comments tying Obama with the former extremist and accused the Democratic Presidential Candidate of, "palling around with terrorists". After proving she cannot talk in her previous interviews, proving she cannot debate in her one opportunity to prove she has an intelligent mind, she now proves that on top of all this, she cannot read either. The article (which I happened to read…BEFORE she made her spurious comments) quite clearly points out no political affiliation, personal friendship and ideological resemblance between the two men.

There were so many thoughts in my head about it all that I am sure I will have to just add more to this as I organize them in my head. My first thought, however, was how this hockey mom that tries so hard to connect with the "average Joe Sixpack" really has no clue how community politics work. At the highest levels of politics (National) you have the luxury of picking your affiliates, the people you work with on projects. But at the community level it is not always that easy. Sometimes people you disagree with on some issues are people that you are forced, by necessity and by circumstances to work with them. You have to put aside your ideological views and find a way to get things done for the community. Obama and Ayers were in such a situation in which they were thrust together on projects and they made things work. These issues, such as education, are issues that are important to all of us and while we watch the mud fly we should question whether or not these people, if given the key to the White House, will even have the ability to reach across the aisle to work with people that have different ideological views and (*gasp*) bad decisions in their past. It also begs the question of whether or not people in Alaska, like small town Alaska where Palin was a Mayor, do these people make mistakes? Do they have different ideals, values and affiliations? Does this hockey mom that wants to be the President of the Senate, have the ability to make the necessary sacrifices to work with people of different races, creed and political ideology?

My next thought was the mantra Palin kept using during the Biden-Palin debate, as she tried to keep Biden off of McCain's past record by telling him he (Biden) was pointing to the past and that because of this he could not say they were going to do any change in the future. As a matter of fact she said, and I quote, "But for a ticket that wants to talk about change and looking into the future, there's just too much finger-pointing backwards to ever make us believe that that's where you're going." How much farther back can you go??? We are talking a person who committed his crimes when Obama was EIGHT years old, a child! We are pointing all the way back to the beginning of Obama's political career, when he did not have the luxury of choosing who was going to be on the panels he was a part of. The complete irony of Palin, to think that it is somehow "finger-pointing backward" to point at McCain's record of voting that aligns him with a very unpopular President is unacceptable, but pointing back to a casual affiliation with a person that committed their crimes when Obama was a child is somehow ok? Ludicrous!

Another thought that occurred to me was, does the McCain attack truly reflect on Obama? Does it truly reflect his character? Is it something we should be concerned about? That is a legitimate question, but as Hillary found out, it is a question that has been answered, and returning to a subject that has already been clearly explained and accounted for does nothing but insult the intelligence of the American public. Furthermore, stop for a moment and consider this: We have the leading intelligence system in the world, in a day and time when it is most active and is most on its guard. Our defensive capabilities, intelligence wise, is at its peak. Do the Republicans think we are stupid enough to think that if the leading Presidential candidate were a terrorist that he would even be alive to continue in the campaign? Please be serious! It is an insult to the average "Joe Sixpack's" intelligence and to the American system. We are not fools Palin and McCain. It is obvious that this is just like an argument between spouses, when all the issues have been laid out and there is no other defense to be made, and no other arguments to make a logical comeback it will deteriorate into, "yeah, well....your mom sucks too". It is painfully evident that McCain, the Man of Character, has ditched his last promise...He will not talk the issues, choosing to "turn the page" on the issue that means the most to the American people, and instead take the campaign from the issues...to the personal realm.

Coming from a man that is a warrior, a proud fighting man...it is both sad and pathetic...

Gosh b'Golly...Say it aint so...

OK...so I watched the vp debate...and while I had pretty much moved from undecided column to decided...Palin effectively pushed me into a whole new column of support for Obama. There were several issues about the debate that just pissed me off...

(1) First she either chose not to answer questions or chose to answer them yes/no and then pursue her own agenda. This was a debate not a photo op. She chose to use it like her own personal platform. She went so far as to make it clear she was not going to answer the questions given, but rather was gong to answer the "unspoken" questions by speaking right to the American people. While this sounded like she was "connecting" with the average "Joe Sixpack", what it was, was a clear indication that, like the current administration, she had no intentions of following the rules. Furthermore, her tendency to answer questions with a simple "yes/no" was also disturbing. A debate is not about a "yes/no" but rather about "yes/no....because". Her lack of substance was palpable, almost as palpable as her condescending sarcasm.

(2) "Say it ain't so Joe". Her condescending sarcasm was so disrespectful that if Biden had talked to her EXACTLY as she talked to him he would have brought down the ENTIRE Obama campaign for being a sexist condescending rich white male. But in her case it was "folksy". And as for her "folksy" talk, designed to connect with the average "Joe Sixpack", it was eerily reminiscent of the current President with his multiple mispronunciations that make anybody with a decent high school education cringe. Let's be honest, do we want another face in the White House to embarrass us every time they stand in front of the cameras? Furthermore, her condescending attitude to a man that has served 30 years in the senate was unforgivable. She treated a man nearly old enough to be her Father like he was a child...something my mom always taught me was unacceptable...and most hockey moms teach their kids better!

(3) Civics 101...The vice president, regardless of what the Honorable Dick Cheney thinks, is still the most thankless job in the country. The Constitution, Mrs. Palin, quite clearly indicates what the role and authority of the Vice-President is. The Vice-President is president of the senate and is the tie breaking vote when necessary. The vice president becomes President in case of the death or in the case where the President is incapacitated. The Vice President is not granted ANY executive power in the Constitution. This is also a clear idealogical link to the current administration that holds little regard for the rules and the Constitution.

(4) Let's talk about sex. I understand that it is politics. I also understand that politicians use whatever tools they have available to them. So it came as little surprise to me how well Mrs. Palin used her femininity to be so likeable. Sure she was likeable. If Biden giggled and winked like she did He would have been accused of either mocking her as a woman or being gay! I actually have to give Biden props for handling a situation so well in which he had such a distinct disadvantage. She used her femininity against him. It appealed to the male audience no doubt, but most women I have talked to have found it insulting. That she cannot win a contest fair and square as a professional but has to stoop to such shenanigans. Even SNL noticed a point that all but the Republican faithful has noticed...when cornered Palin becomes incredibly cute.

Overall, watching Biden and Palin debate was eerily familiar....like when me and my ex used to fight. She knew when to turn on the charm. She also knew how to pick and choose what she wanted to answer and what she chose to ignore. The only reason why Palin's performance was considered good was because everybody was expecting much worse. The bar was set low, so it was easy to clear....but then...isn't that what this election is all about?
